Industry veteran to drive growth, performance and guest satisfaction as Hilton enters the new golden age of travel
Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has announced the appointment of Joseph Khairallah as area vice president and head of Japan, Korea, and Micronesia. Based in Tokyo, Khairallah will oversee Hilton’s 32 trading hotels and future pipeline growth, as Hilton expands its regional footprint.
Khairallah takes over the role from Timothy Soper, who over the last 12 years led Hilton through record-breaking growth in Japan, Korea and Micronesia - from nine hotels and two brands in 2012, to 32 hotels and six brands today, with another nine in the pipeline, including two Waldorf Astoria properties.
An industry veteran with over 40 years of experience, Khairallah brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He previously served as Hilton’s vice president of Operations for North China and was instrumental in expanding the company's presence from 28 to 51 properties. During his tenure, he successfully navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthened the company’s service proposition and guest satisfaction.
Prior to joining Hilton in 2018, Khairallah led Marcus Hotels & Resorts as President and Chief Operating Officer, post a 30-year career across numerous global roles with Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Last year, Hilton celebrated the 60th anniversary of its trading presence in Japan and the 40th anniversary in Korea. The company has also delivered its signature hospitality on the island of Guam for more than 50 years.

힐튼(Hilton)은 일본, 한국, 마이크로네시아 지역 부사장 겸 대표로 조셉 카이랄라(Joseph S. Khairallah)를 임명했다고 밝혔다. 카이랄라 신임 대표는 도쿄를 기반으로, 힐튼이 지역 내 입지를 확장함에 따라 힐튼이 보유한 32개 호텔 운영을 비롯, 앞으로 선보일 호텔 포트폴리오 성장까지 주도한다는 계획이다.
카이랄라 대표는 지난 12년 동안 힐튼 일본, 한국 및 마이크로네시아 지역의 기록적인 성장을 이끌어 낸 티모시 소퍼(Timothy Soper)에 이어 대표직을 맡게 된다. 2012년 9개의 호텔과 2개의 브랜드를 보유했던 힐튼은 오늘날 32개 호텔과 6개 브랜드를 보유하고 있으며, 월도프 아스토리아 리조트 두 개를 포함하여 향후 선보일 호텔 9개가 포트폴리오에 추가되었다.
카이랄라 대표는 40년 이상의 경력을 보유한 호텝 업계 베테랑으로 지난 2018년 중국 북부 지역 운영 부사장으로 힐튼에 입사해 힐튼의 입지를 공고히 하는데 크게 기여했다. 나아가 힐튼 호텔 포트폴리오를 28개에서 51개로 성장시켰으며, 서비스 가치 증대 및 고객 만족도를 유지 및 강화하면서 코로나19 위기를 관리했다.
2018년 힐튼에 합류하기 전, 카이랄라 대표는 마커스 호텔 리조트(Marcus Hotels & Resorts)의 사장 겸 최고운영책임자(COO)로 역임했으며, 그 전에는 하얏트호텔(Hyatt Hotels Corporation)에서 30년간 다양한 글로벌 직책을 역임한 바 있다.
